Goodgrapes: Development of new varieties of table grapes with health-enhancing properties.

SNFL is collaborating with the Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial  (CDTI) on a project financed by the Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER). The  project´s objective is to promote technological development, innovation, and high-quality research in Murcia, Spain.

The GOODGRAPES project aims to develop new seedless table grape varieties with health-enhancing properties for consumers.

To achieve this, new genetic material will be obtained from varieties with a high concentration of antioxidants, with a particular focus on enriching phenolic compounds. In vitro studies will be conducted to examine their effect on glucose absorption after simulating gastrointestinal digestion. Additionally, their effect on insulin resistance will be evaluated in vitro.

A comparison will be made with regular table grape varieties, and a reference fruit associated with low caloric content will also be analyzed.

Furthermore, special consideration will be given to ensuring that the developed varieties have new flavors that are well-received in the market.

This project has been funded by the Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) to promote technological development, innovation, and high-quality research.
